[V8SC] Stewards Briefing - Round 3
#1
Round 3, Bernese Alps, Stewards Briefing
May 5th, 2016

Teams and drivers are advised of the following information contained within:
Qualifying Procedure
Starting Procedure
Pit Entry and Exit

All information contained in this stewards briefing is created with the purpose of ensuring we have stable events, so CANZ administrators appreciate that everyone follows this information along with adhering to the CANZ sporting regulations.

Qualifying Procedure:
Qualifying for Round 2 of the CANZ V8 Supercars series will be a timed session of 15 minutes. No shootout session or group split will be required for this circuit. Please spread yourselves out on circuit to avoid dirtying others laps through drafting.

Starting Procedure:
For the first race, a standard start will be used. Should a reverse grid race be run, a standing manual start will be used to set grid positions.

Pit Entry and Exit:
Please observe the following images:

For pit entry, please communicate early that you will be entering the pits as it does require slightly earlier breaking into the final corner. You must remain inside the yellow line as picture, aborted pitstops due to crossing this line may be deemed a corner cut if a collision occurs. As always you cannot pit at the end of the first lap unless you have damage, and you must not pit on the last lap and finish the race in the pit lane.

For pit exit, remember to communincate that you are exiting the pits as you feed towards the inside line on turn 1 for a particularly high speed corner, remain inside the yellow line and do not aggressively cross onto the racing line.

Any questions, pop them below, otherwise I'll see you all tomorrow night and let's have a good race to start the season!

Stewards Report: Round 3

There was one incident reported to the stewards for this round.

Incident Involving Car 2 and Car 86
The preliminary findings have resulted in the following observations:
Car 2 (MRN3Drifter) collided with considerable force with car 86 (Hyboi) causing a loss of control and contact with the fence, however car 86 was slowing and appears to be deviating from the natual racing line in anticipation of needing to avoid contact with car 16 and car 17 who were involved in a separate collision on the apex of turn 2 towards the racing line for turn 3. Car 2 has made contact with car 86 during this time and as a result of the contact car 86 lost three positions.

Stewards Findings:
While the collision did result in a loss of positions it is difficult to say if the situation would have played out differently had the secondary incident between Car 16 and Car 17 not been occuring at the same time in proximity to this incident. As a result my intitial finding is to deem the incident a racing incident but to remind all drivers that increased caution must be taken during the first lap as incidents such as these are at a higher risk of occuring. As the old addage goes, you can't win a race on the first lap, but you can lose it. While this incident had external factors we won't be light on first corner/lap incidents in future because we've seen two in three races and want to nip it before it becomes too common.
