What Is Investment Casting And How Does It Work? |

Factors such as design requirements, cost, and feasibility to manufacture dictate which casting process is most suitable to manufacture a product. Investment casting produces precise components while minimizing material waste, energy, and subsequent machining. It can also ensure the production of very intricate parts. This makes the investment casting process quite useful to design engineers.
The goal is to understand what is meant by investment casting. So, What exactly is the investment in investment casting? The term invested historically carries the meaning of clothed or surrounded. Investment casting employs a shell made of ceramic, plaster, or plastic that is formed around a wax pattern. The wax pattern is melted and removed in a furnace and metal is poured into the shell to create the casting.
Investment casting provides consistent and repetitive close tolerances along with intricate passages and contours. Many of these configurations are impossible to produce. For example, where machine tools cannot reach. Achieving net-shape or near-net-shape cast components can dramatically reduce post-cast processing costs.
Investment casting is a good alternative to weldments or fabricating. Many components can be combined into a single casting. The more that are combined, the better the manufacturing efficiency. Converting multi-piece components to a single investment casting typically delivers more dimensional accuracy and reduced part complexity.
CNC machining is a manufacturing process that utilizes computerized controls to operate and manipulate machine and cutting tools to shape stock material—e.g., metal, plastic, wood, foam, composite, etc.—into custom parts and designs. While the CNC machining process offers various capabilities and operations, the fundamental principles of the process remain largely the same throughout all of them.
Metal stamping is a cold-forming process that makes use of dies and stamping presses to transform sheet metal into different shapes. Pieces of flat sheet metal, typically referred to as blanks, are fed into a sheet metal stamping press that uses a tool and dies surface to form the metal into a new shape. Production facilities and metal fabricators offering stamping services will place the material to be stamped between die sections, where the use of pressure will shape and shear the material into the desired final shape for the product or component.
Forging is a metal working process that manipulates, shapes, deforms, and compresses metal to achieve the desired form, configuration, or appearance outlined by a metal processing design or diagram. Depending on the type of metal and the requirements of the design, the forging process can be completed using either hot or cold forging processes.
Is there any reason to specify powder metallurgy over traditional machining beyond that is how we have always done it? The answer is a definite yes -- and for more reasons than just the low cost.
With conventional manufacturing, you melt it, you roll it, you cast, if you machine it. A lot of steps, and a lot of scrap metal at the end.
Using powder metal reduces waste considerably and therefore can be called an environmentally friendly manufacturing process. Sounds like an oxymoron, but it is really true!
Leftover metal from machining is minimized. There are no metal chips to throw out. When you look closely, it is apparent that powder metallurgy is truly a green process. In fact, a study by Ford Motor Co. a few years ago showed that the PM process is 15% more energy-efficient than traditional machining.
Naturally machining from a solid workpiece is sometimes a requirement. But with many projects, you can avoid secondary machining entirely by using the powder metal process.

Desiccant or compressor dehumidifier? |

DESICCANT DEHUMIDIFIERS
While a compressor dehumidifier has a compressor and a cold surface that it utilizes to yank the moisture from the damp air, the desiccant dehumidifier works more like a sponge or silica gel, simply absorbing the moisture from the humid air via a desiccant wheel. The wheel is regenerated by an inbuilt internal heater that allows the process to go on and on.
The desiccant dehumidifiers are generally quieter and more compact in design and are thus preferred by many customers. Below are some of the pros and cons of using a desiccant dehumidifier.
ADVANTAGES OF DESICCANT DEHUMIDIFIERS
They work well in both cold and warm climates: Unlike the compressor dehumidifiers that are really built for a warm ambient temperature, the moisture absorber boxes will maintain a superior standard of performance in both warm and cold ambient temperatures. This is because while the compressor dehumidifiers work on a condensation principle that requires a temperature gradient between the atmosphere and a condensation surface, the desiccant dehumidifiers utilize an adsorption principle where the water molecules adhere onto a surface to form a thin film of moisture on the dehumidifier material. This makes them highly effective as dehumidifiers in spaces with high humidity at low temperatures. As a result, with the moisture absorber refill, you do not have to grapple with the 15°C cut-off room temperature for optimal performance that is required for the compressor dehumidifiers.
Little packets of silica gel are found in all sorts of products because silica gel is a desiccant -- it adsorbs and holds water vapor. In leather products and foods like pepperoni, the lack of moisture can limit the growth of mold and reduce spoilage. In electronics, it prevents condensation, which might damage the electronics. If a bottle of vitamins contained any moisture vapor and were cooled rapidly, the condensing moisture would ruin the pills. You will find little silica gel packets in anything that would be affected by excess moisture or condensation.
Silica gel desiccant canister is nearly harmless, which is why you find it in food products. Silica, or silicon dioxide (SiO2), is the same material found in quartz. The gel form contains millions of tiny pores that can adsorb and hold moisture. Silica gel is essentially porous sand.
Silica gel can adsorb about 40 percent of its weight in moisture and can take the relative humidity in a closed container down to about 40 percent. Once saturated, you can drive the moisture off and reuse silica gel by heating it above 300 degrees F (150 C).
Refrigerator deodorizers help to reduce bacteria growth and therefore reduce smells and extend the life of food. Adding more toxins to your fridge will only create an additional growth area, so opt for deodorizers made of non-toxic ingredients.
Look at the lifespan of your deodorizer. If you are someone who is good at remembering when it is time to change out your deodorizer, one with a shorter lifespan could work for you. If you are often away from home for extended periods or need something for your rental property, choose a deodorizer that does not need to be frequently changed.
Air purifying bags, as their name suggests, are bags that purify the air. The bag contains activated minerals such as bamboo charcoal to filter the air in its space. It does this by absorbing the chemicals, toxins, and odor and it gives off a fresh scent. However, a bamboo charcoal air purifying bag does not work like aerosol sprays that make the air smell good. In fact, it does not even give off a distinct smell. If your room smells better after you placed the air purifying bag, then that is the smell of clean air.
All products can benefit from adding the packets to your production system. Whether storing or shipping, Silica-Gel Desiccant Packets are an affordable and efficient way to guarantee longer life for products. The benefits of silica gel desiccant packets go beyond protecting the product during transport to your customers. Customers can continue to use the silica gel desiccant packets for personal use. Here are some examples of reusing silica gel desiccant packets.

Before the modern vacuum tube, blood collection tubes and other devices were difficult and imprecise. Etched lines in borosilicate glass tubes reflected the amount of blood the phlebotomist needed to collect.
Using a disposable venous blood collection needle, the phlebotomist would puncture a vein and direct the blood into the glass tube that contained ETDA or citrate as additives to prevent blood coagulation. Black rubber stoppers were used to seal the tubes for transportation to the laboratory.
Sanitation was also an issue because tubes and syringes were washed between patients. A grinding wheel was used to resharpen multi-sample pen type needles, and they were sterilized between uses.
Ensured that additives were used in the correct proportion for the amount of blood collected. The vacuum tubes used in venipuncture made blood draws safer and easier, and their results more accurate. Regulatory agencies such as the FDA, ISO, and CLSI now enforce guidelines that ensure that blood collection systems are consistent in both design and manufacture.
Has been an advancement in collecting blood using disposable non-vacuum blood collection tubes, ushering microsampling into the mainstream. With DBS sampling, a small prick of blood is dropped onto an absorbent card made of filter paper. After the card absorbs the blood and dries sufficiently, it can be transported much more easily than glass tubes filled with blood samples. The innovation of DBS cards means that a very tiny sample of blood can provide accurate test results, a boon for patients and technical staff alike.
In all settings in which specimens are collected and prepared for testing, laboratory and health care personnel should follow current recommended sterile techniques, including precautions regarding the use of needles and other sterile equipment. Treat all biological material as material that is potentially hazardous as well as contaminated virus specimen collection tube supplies. For all those who are involved in specimen collection and preparation, the responsibility to adhere to current recommendations designed to maintain the safety of both patients and health care workers does not end when the patient is dismissed.
Although most approved saliva collection methods use specialized tubes and buffers to stabilize RNA and viral inactivation, researchers have found that this expensive method may not always be needed. Our disposable saliva collection kit is designed to provide a widely available, cost-effective solution for raw saliva collection to simplify saliva-based detection, which is essential for epidemiological research on a global scale. The easy-to-use self-collection kit helps clean saliva transfer, reduces the risk of cross-contamination when paired with liquid handling procedures, and is seamlessly integrated into the downstream automated workflows of viral RNA extraction and direct PCR for high-throughput monitoring and testing.
The Ministry of Health has recently approved the use of do-it-yourself, self-test COVID-19 antigen rapid test kit (colloidal gold) that can be purchased at pharmacies. Designed to be self-administered, these tests will allow more frequent testing for greater peace of mind, should individuals wish to be tested more often. Anyone who tests positive using a self-test kit should immediately approach a SASH clinic for a confirmatory test, and self-isolate while awaiting results.
Wearing a disposable face mask in public places has become the norm in most countries, as the world continues fighting to keep the Covid-19 pandemic at bay.
Experts now estimate that each month, 129 billion face masks and 65 billion gloves are used and disposed of globally. With a surgical mask weighing roughly 3.5g, that would equate to 451,500 tonnes of masks a month and, when placed next to one another, cover an area roughly three times the size of Singapore.
Conservationists and non-governmental organisations are increasingly concerned that a lot of the plastic waste, especially pandemic-related waste, is ending up in landfills, waterways and oceans, adding to the millions of tonnes of plastic waste already dumped into the world's oceans every year.
We are engaged in the development, production and supply of disposable infusion sets used in insulin infusion therapy, including the popular flexible cannula devices currently used with insulin pumps.

Antioxidants Explained in Simple Terms
What are antioxidants?
Antioxidants are molecules that fight free radicals in the body. Free radicals are compounds that can cause harm if they
are too high in your body. They are related to a variety of diseases, including diabetes, heart disease and cancer. Your body
has its own antioxidant defense system to control free radicals.
However, antioxidants ingredients are also present in foods,
especially in fruits, vegetables and other whole plant foods. Several vitamins, such as vitamins E and C, are effective
antioxidants. Antioxidant preservatives also play a vital role in food production by extending shelf life.
How do free radicals work
Free radicals are constantly forming in your body. Without antioxidants, free radicals can quickly cause serious damage
and eventually death. However, free radicals also have important functions vital to health. For example, your immune cells
use free radicals to fight infection. Therefore, your body needs to maintain a certain balance between free radicals and
antioxidants. When the number of free radicals exceeds that of antioxidants, it leads to a state called oxidative stress.
Prolonged oxidative stress can damage your DNA and other important molecules in your body. Sometimes it even leads to
cell death. DNA damage increases the risk of cancer, and some scientists speculate that it plays a key role in aging. Long-
term oxidative stress can lead to an increased risk of negative health outcomes, such as cardiovascular disease and some
types of cancer.
While COVID accelerated the trend of adding Immunity
Enhancement Ingredients to processed food, it is not exactly a new concept. Products with such characteristics—think
probiotic yogurt products and gummy bears spiked with zinc and echinacea—have been growing in popularity for years. And food
processors have grown in their understanding of how their products can improve the immune system.
Cnidium is a native Chinese plant that has also been identified in the US in Oregon. Cnidium is a Traditional Chinese
Medicine (TCM) that has been used for thousands of years, especially for dermatological conditions. It has been a common
ingredient in Chinese lotions, creams, and ointments. A pro-erectile herb, Cindium monnieri extract and its main bioactive known as osthole appear to have
mechanisms similar to Viagra in penile tissue and the hippocampus. The usable parts of cnidium are the fruit, seed, and whole
plant. Active properties of cnidium are the coumarin derivatives including:
Osthol
Imperatorin
Isopimpinellin
Xanthotoxin
Bergapten
Additional coumarins have also been identified including cnidimonal, cnidimarin, and others. Cnidium is used orally for
increasing sexual performance and libido, erectile dysfunction, infertility, body building, increasing energy, cancer,
osteoporosis, and fungal and bacterial infections. Cnidium is used topically for pruritus, rashes, eczema, and ringworm.
Monk fruit is also called Luo Han Guo or swingle. It looks like a small gourd, and it grows on a vine.
Monk fruit is native to regions of Southeast Asia, including some parts of Thailand and China. Buddhist monks in the 13th
century were the first to cultivate the fruit, which is the reason for its name.
Fresh monk fruit spoils rather quickly. Traditionally, people used dried monk fruit in herbal medicines.
Today, monk fruit is the most popular natural sweetener
ingredients. The fruit extract contains substances called mogrosides, which are intensely sweet.
According to the International Food Information Council Foundation, monk fruit is around 150–200 times sweeter than
sugar. Some manufacturers mix the extract with different sugars to balance out the intensity.
A variety of monk fruit sweeteners are available to purchase online.
Monk fruit pros
A monk fruit sweetener has several benefits when compared with sugar:
Zero calories. Monk fruit
extract contains no calories, which is helpful for people on diets that restrict a person’s caloric intake.
Zero carbohydrates. The extract also contains no carbohydrates, which may make it ideal for people on low-carb or
keto diets.
Zero sugar. There is no sugar in pure monk fruit extract, which means that consuming it will not affect blood
sugar levels.
No harmful side effects. The
U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)Trusted Source
considers monk fruit sweeteners to be generally regarded as safe. There appears to be no evidence that monk fruit
sweeteners cause harmful side effects.
Available in multiple forms. Monk fruit sweeteners are marketed as granules, powders, and liquids. Some products
may be easy to carry and use throughout the day.
Nutraceutical ingredients find a wide variety of
applications, such as functional food & beverages, animal nutrition, pharmaceuticals, and personal care products. However,
the inclusion of nutraceutical ingredients in food & beverage products, feed products, pharmaceuticals, and personal care
products results in an increase in the prices of these end products. This, in turn, leads to lower adoption of such products,
thereby stunting market growth. Over the past few years, there has been an increase in the demand for healthy alternatives of
consumables as consumers have become increasingly conscious about the correct diet. Nutraceutical ingredients, when added to
any kind of food & beverage product, result in the formation of functional food & beverages, which, in some way, impart a
health benefit.

What Are The Difference Between PVC Wallpaper And Non-Woven Wallpaper?
Nowadays most of the people are using wallpapers to decorate their home, flats, offices. Houses with wallpapers look good
and give a good texture. As modern decoration companies are paying more attention to personal styles, so more people are
started to using wallpaper for decorating their favourite places.
The employment of wallpapers is rising in household and offices to break the standard of using paint as a decorative
material. Modern young people need more attractive visual kind of design.
Wallpapers are not only attractive, but they also satisfy the requirement of environment safety.
Non woven wallpapers and PVC wallpapers are the most used
wallpapers for home decoration, so which wallpaper is better depends on their material and other terms.
What Is PVC Wallpaper?
PVC or Polyvinyl Chloride are embossed to provide a luxurious effect. PVC metallic wallpaper is durable and easily washable. A comparison with non-woven
wallpapers shows that the installation and removal of non-woven wallpapers are much more difficult.
The main characteristics of PVC wallpapers are:
They are very strong and designer wallpapers
They have water resistance properties.
Affordable than non-woven wallpapers
PVC wallpapers are scratch resistance.
What Is Non-Woven Wallpaper?
on-woven wallpaper is consists of natural plant fiber and finished with high-quality natural woods.
These wallpapers are made of completely different material due to that
Non-woven wallpapers are environment friendly.
The characteristics of non-woven wallpapers are:
They are lightweight.
Non woven wallpapers are very flexible and also very easy to install and remove.
They have sound proofing and heat proofing feature. Because of this, they are applicable to any kind of room
Difference Between PVC Wallpaper And Non-Woven Wallpaper:
Non-woven wallpapers are one kind of natural fibre, which is environment friendly with the feature of moisture
resistance, air permeability and lightweight. In present non-woven is the best environment friendly decorative material. This
type of wallpaper will give you visual comfortability and it has the function of sound resistance and ventilation, which can
make non-woven wallpaper first choice for top-end decoration wallpaper. It is most suitable for bedrooms.
Where PVC modern wallpaper is
mainly composed of polyvinyl chloride resin and high molecular polymers.
In terms of price, non-woven wallpapers are more costly as they have more advance feature and environment
friendly.
PVC wallpaper is cheaper because their environmental protection is not so good.
The difference between PVC wallpapers and nonwoven wallpapers
is also comparatively large, and they also have distinct advantages as per their functions so you can select your
wallpaper as you need.
It is difficult to distinguish between PVC wallpaper and non-woven stripe line wallpaper. One interesting fact is, PVC can be made into the non-woven
fabric, but it is tough to differentiate. PVC is more important than non-woven wallpaper, and the texture of PVC wallpaper is
hard.
If you want to install wallpaper for your home, then non-woven is better than fabric because non-woven wallpaper has
better ventilation. On the other hand, PVC is used in hotels. It is also called engineering wallpaper.

The future of 3D holograms comes into focus |

The future of 3D holograms comes into focus
Smartphone-based augmented reality (AR) and the AR headset explosion will bring 3D holograms into our lives everywhere.
Meanwhile, though, the real AR hologram revolution is being ignored.
A hologram is a 3D virtual object that is not actually there, but looks as if it were, either floating in the air or
standing on a nearby desk or table.
The holo in the Microsoft HoloLens headset is a reference to holograms. And when we think of these future AR holograms,
we think of headsets, goggles such as HoloLens or smartphones running applications created with Apple ARKit or Google ARCore.
Technology is increasingly becoming ubiquitous, and companies are racing to win market domination. A competitor to the
HoloLens, the Lightware headset from secretive Magic Leap, has been in the news lately, after six years of development at a
cost of $2 billion, for two reasons.
The first is that the company unveiled the Creator Edition of the headset in December. Now we know what it looks like:
something right off the cover of a vintage sci-fi novel.
The second reason is rampant speculation that Apple might buy Magic Leap to accelerate its own AR goggle development,
speculation driven by Apple analyst Gene Munster.
In other 3D hologram fan headset headlines, Dell this week announced
that it will start selling, on Feb. 15, the $1,495 Meta 2 developer kits, which include the Meta 2 AR headset, for business
deployments. The company said the Meta 2 is supported by several business-class Dell Precision Workstation PCs.
What are holograms good for, anyway?
Think of 3D holographic desk fan displays as
the next step in making digital content more human-compatible.
Humans see the world in 3D. Our computer and phone screens show us a 2D version of the world. It’s artificial.
If I look at a concept car design on my laptop, people on the other side of the room see only the back of my laptop lid.
That is artificial, too.
A hologram projected in the middle of the room could show a 3D concept car for all to see, as if it were a physical
object actually there.
The biggest applications for holograms are for enterprises, such as what I described above — 3D presentations for
conference rooms and meetings.
And while we’re deploying holograms in the conference room, we might as well beam live remote meeting participants into
the meeting — holographic telepresence.
Holograms will also dramatically improve training, design and visualization in enterprises. The ability to look at, zoom
in on and manipulate 3D versions of in-progress designs radically enhances the design process.
And, of course, in the marketing department, holograms will thrill customers with experiential marketing campaigns and
customer experience interactions.
We’re already seeing applications for all these emerging for smartphone, tablet and headset AR. But the real benefits
come when holograms are liberated from such devices.
The definition of the LED conformal screen, that is, what shape the building is, what shape the LED screen will be made
into. It belongs to the creative folding LED creative screen series,
which is characterized by a dot-shaped array. It has the characteristics of transparency, flexibility and lightness. Not only
that, its screen can be bent, folded, rolled, suspended and so on.
The emergence of LED conformal screens has broken the large screen splicing system that can only be spliced into a cold
rectangular shape. It is a creative LED solution that can be freely spliced into various shapes to display some highly
creative content, which can not only attract the attention of the audience for the first time to achieve better publicity
effects but also better expand the application scope of large-screen splicing. At present, LEDYARD LED bendable
LED conference screens have been used in many
areas at home and abroad, including building advertising lighting, real-life 3D art, spherical screens, sailing screens,
curved screens and so on.
The initial LED screen was only used for displaying and advertising. With the increasing demand in the market, regular
shapes (like squares) could no longer satisfy the customers. Flexible LED screens came into being. LED flexible screen, as the name implies, is soft and can be bent arbitrarily within a
certain range without affecting the display, while ordinary LED displays are hard and cannot be bent.
If it can bend, LED column screen can be made
into various shapes, such as common spherical, rhombic, cylindrical, triangular, tree-shaped, streamer-shaped and other
shapes. We know that the LED screens can be seamlessly spliced, so of course, there is no gap in the LED mesh. The shape is
perfect!

The story of tissue: the evolution of a vital consumer product
Toilet and facial tissue are something that most of us take for granted, but many may be surprised to learn they are
actually relatively new inventions. However, while
white toilet paper itself dates back less than a century, there is a much longer record of humans relying on paper for
personal cleansing.
It perhaps comes as little surprise that the Chinese, credited with first developing the pulp papermaking process more
than 2000 years ago, are also believed to be the first to use paper for personal cleansing. The first recorded use of toilet
paper dates back to 6th century China. During the Tang Dynasty, three hundred years later, an Arab traveler in the region
commented that the Chinese do not wash with water when they have done their necessities; but they only wipe themselves with
paper.
Still, it would take several centuries before the world saw anything resembling toilet paper as we know it today. For
many years, people turned to other paper instead. Following the rise of printing, for example, many people relied on
repurposed newspapers and books.
The introduction of toilet paper as a commercial product did not occur until 1857. In that year, American inventor Joseph
Gayetty began selling packets of paper in individual sheets, marketed as Gayetty’s Medical Paper. Others began to eventually
produce this variety of brown, rough and thin paper in countries around the world. In fact, many readers may have personal
memories of this high quality toilet paper
, which could still be found in certain parts of Europe as late as the 1970s.
Folds that changed everything
The first tissue products as we had recognize them today were invented and produced by the American paper manufacturer
Kimberly-Clark, who developed cellulose as a replacement for cotton in sanitary products during World War I. Their major
innovation was the creping process, in which paper was micro-folded in the course of production. This breaks down the
rigidity of the paper and increases the volume, making it both softer and more absorbent than the paper created by Joseph
Gayetty 60 years earlier.
In 1920, Kimberly-Clark released the world's first commercially available tissue product, the sanitary pad Kotex. It
was made possible thanks to the new creping process and the work of two men at the company: Frank Sensenbrenner and a young
Austrian immigrant named Ernst Mahler. By layering several sheets of tissue, they developed a soft pillow with much greater
absorbency than the traditional cotton wool. Four years later, Kimberly-Clark followed the success of Kotex with the
disposable handkerchief Kleenex, which remains the market-leading brand for facial tissue paper today.
Customer experience drives development
In the years following the advent of the creping process, tissue products, such as
soft kitchen tissue paper,
paper hand towels,
jumbo rolls toilet paper white,
etc., quickly became popular with consumers, leading many manufacturers to take notice. From the United States, tissue
production expanded to Europe in the first half of the twentieth century and ultimately to every other part of the globe as
well.
Tissue production continually evolved throughout this period to keep up with increased market demand and to provide an
improved customer experience. As today, manufacturers worked to meet shifting consumer tastes, and
paper dinner napkin industry trends came and
went along with other consumer fads. One memorable example was the pastel-colored toilet rolls designed to match bathroom
interiors that gained popularity in the 1960s.
However, a constant in development has been the search for production methods that secure paper that is both strong and
soft. For toilet as well as white facial tissue
, strength and absorbability are essential to ensuring the paper can do the intended job while keeping hands clean and
dry. At the same time, it also needs to avoid causing discomfort in delicate areas of the body. As
mini pocket tissues use has become more
widespread – first in the Americas and Europe and more recently in other parts of the world – consumers have come to demand
increasingly softer and stronger sheets.

What Is Tomato Paste & How to Use It
Tomato paste is an essential pantry staple to have on hand for
whipping up delicious, deeply flavored meals-it can transform a ho-hum recipe, like a soup or sauce, into something really
special. A little bit goes a long way, though, which is why you will most often find tomato paste in small 6-ounce cans. With
most recipes only calling for a tablespoon or two of tomato paste, even if you buy the tiniest can, you will still have so
much leftover. You can always refrigerate the rest (and hope you remember to use it before it starts growing mold) or freeze
it for use down the road (read more on the best way to do this below). Or, better yet, you could make the shift from
canned tomato paste to tomato paste in a tube
(maybe our favorite option). Here is what you need to know about tomato paste in general, why you should try buying it in a
tube, and what to make once you have it.
What Is Tomato Paste?
First things first. What is tomato paste, anyway? Tomato paste is basically super-concentrated tomato sauce. If you
take tomatoes and cook them down, strain the skin and seeds from the mixture and continue to cook the sauce down until it
forms a thick consistency, you get sachet tomato paste
. Manufactured tomato pastes often include a stabilizer, like citric acid, and salt (you can also find no-salt-added
options), and sometimes herbs and spices. There are also options for double-concentrated and triple-concentrated
tomato ketchup, meaning it is even more potent.
Why You Need Tomato Paste in Your Pantry
The benefit of using tomato ketchup sachet
over other canned tomatoes (like tomato puree, crushed tomatoes or diced tomatoes) or even fresh tomatoes, is that you
get the deep tomato flavor without all the extra water, making it great for recipes where you do not want a ton of liquid,
like meatloaf or taco filling. Tomato paste can be used to intensify flavor over time in slow-cooked recipes or can quickly
add a burst of flavor in quick 30-minute recipes for weeknights. To get the most flavor potential out of your tomato paste,
plan to add it early on in the cooking process before adding liquids like water, broth or other canned tomatoes. This way,
the tomatoes have the chance to caramelize and develop even further.
Tomato Paste in a Tube Exists and You Need It in Your Life
Yes, it exists and yes, you need to buy it. Tubed tomato paste is a convenient alternative to canned tomato paste
that lets you use just what you need, without worrying about what to do with the rest of the can. It is made the same exact
same way as the canned stuff but is packaged in a convenient squeezable tube with a screw cap that preserves the
bulk tomato paste for longer. Most tubes are 4.5 ounces and yield
9 tablespoons, which is comparable to the 6-ounce cans that contain 10 tablespoons of tomato paste. Look for tubed tomato
paste on the shelf next to the canned tomato ketchup
, or if your grocery store does not carry it, you can buy it here. While it is a little pricier than its canned
counterpart-$3.79 for a 4.5-ounce tube versus $1.19 for a 6-ounce can-you will ultimately get more value out of the tube by
wasting less.
How to Use Tomato Paste
There are so many delicious ideas for how to use tomato paste. Want to whip up a quick homemade tomato sauce? What
about a creamy tomato soup to go along with your grilled cheese? Tomato paste is a key ingredient that will add tons of
tomatoey flavor quickly. Beyond the obvious option of using 220L drum tomato paste to make a tomato-heavy recipe, like sauce or soup, you can also use tomato paste
to elevate the flavor of other recipes-like we did in this Jackfruit Sloppy Joes recipe, in the dipping sauce for these Air-
Fryer Zucchini Fries and in our Slow-Cooker Butter Chicken recipe.
When to Use Tomato Paste in a Tube
All of these recipes use tomato paste in different ways and call for just a few tablespoons, which is where tomato
paste in a tube comes in handy, so you can use just what you need.
Rather than using store-bought taco seasoning that can be super high in sodium, try the homemade variation in this
stuffed sweet potato recipe that uses tomato paste to add extra flavor.

An Introduction to Machine Vision Systems
Machine vision systems are a set of integrated components that are designed to use information extracted from digital
images to automatically guide manufacturing and production operations such as go/no testing and quality control processes.
These systems can also play a role in automated assembly verification and inspection operations through their ability to
guide material handling equipment to position products or materials as needed in a given process. They have wide applications
across different industries and can be used to automate any mundane, repetitive tasks that would become tiring to a human
inspector or operator. The use of automatic vision measuring
machine allows for 100% inspection of products or parts in a process, resulting in improved yields, reductions in
defect rates, increased quality, lower costs, and greater consistency of process results.
How Machine Vision Systems Work
To understand how a manual vision measuring machine
works, it may be helpful to envision it performing a typical function, such as product inspection. First, the sensor detects
if a product is present. If there is indeed a product passing by the sensor, the sensor will trigger a camera to capture the
image, and a light source to highlight key features. Next, a digitizing device called a frame-grabber takes the camera’s
image and translates it into digital output, which is then stored in computer memory so it can be manipulated and processed
by software.
In order to process an image, computer software must perform several tasks. First, the image is reduced in gradation to a
simple black and white format. Next, the image is analyzed by system software to identify defects and proper components based
on predetermined criteria. After the image has been analyzed, the product will either pass or fail inspection based on the
machine vision system’s findings.
Measurement functions of the large-stroke
coordinate measuring instrument are done through the comparison of a recorded dimension from a digital image against a
standard valve to establish a tolerance or to determine if the observed value of the dimension is within acceptable levels of
tolerance as called for in the design specification for that part.
Video Motion Quality (VMQ) evaluates the relative motion quality of the distorted video generated from the reference
video based on all the frames from the two videos. VMQ uses any frame-based metric to compare frames from original video and
distorted video. It uses the timestamp of each frame to measure the intersection value. VMQ measuring machine combines the comparison value with the intersection value in the aggregate
function to produce the final result. To explore the efficiency of VMQ, we used a set of uncompressed original videos to
generate a new set of encoded videos. These encoded videos are then used to generate a new set of distorted videos that have
the same video bit rate and frame size, but the frame rate is reduced.
In modern machines, the gantry type vision measuring
machine superstructure has two legs and is often called a bridge. This moves freely along the granite table with one
leg (often referred to as the inside leg) following a guide rail attached to one side of the granite table. The opposite leg
(often outside leg) simply rests on the granite table following the vertical surface contour. Air bearings are the chosen
method for ensuring friction free travel. In these, compressed air is forced through a series of very small holes in a flat
bearing surface to provide a smooth but controlled air cushion on which the CMM can move in a near frictionless manner which
can be compensated for through software. The movement of the bridge or gantry along the granite table forms one axis of the
XY plane. The bridge of the gantry contains a carriage which traverses between the inside and outside legs and forms the
other X or Y horizontal axis. The third axis of movement (Z axis) is provided by the addition of a vertical quill or spindle
which moves up and down through the center of the carriage. The touch probe forms the sensing device on the end of the quill.
The movement of the X, Y and Z axes fully describes the measuring envelope. Optional rotary tables can be used to enhance the
approachability of the measuring probe to complicated workpieces. The rotary table as a fourth drive axis does not enhance
the measuring dimensions, which remain 3D, but it does provide a degree of flexibility. Some touch probes are themselves
powered rotary devices with the probe tip able to swivel vertically through more than 180 degrees and through a full 360
degree rotation.
Height gauges can be used to determine an object or workpiece’s height with
extremely high accuracy and precision. These precision measuring instruments also provide marked locations on an item
relative to one reference plane for subsequent use.
Center-line distances, internal/external diameters, and step heights are some of the different measuring tasks that can
be carried out by high-specification digital height gauges.
They claim consistency of ±0.0001 inch and can be extremely precise up to 0.001 inches. Of course, the consistency and
precision of such instruments still depend on their overall quality, so it’s essential only to source one from websites of
reliable manufacturers.
