Hello Everyone,
The last 8-10 months have been very quiet, we've lost a bit of momentum as I took some time off to focus on a course I was doing. We're back in business now though. Gearing up for a new year and getting things back on track. Starting with laying out the plan for 2019.
As you can already see, we're back on the old forums. We've lost a little bit of content as the website with the 2018 forums broke during the year and I couldn't recover the content. Hence the main website saying it's undergoing maintenance. That's a good thing though because there's a few changes on that front I was looking to implement for next year anyway so a mostly fresh start (I've got all the posts from the old website so it look like a wasteland when the new site is first up and running) will be a good thing.
With that, let's take a look at what's happening.
Over on our Discord some discussion has been starting up again, looking at where we're going with CANZ next year (more on that below) as well as discussion in the Inner Sanctum with some of our core community on our direction and focus moving forward. So far we've looked at our focus for 2019 being a return to our Forza roots with a 2019 CANZ Supercars series. We toyed with the idea of a GT series but the workload involved with balancing the GT cars into spec with the current size of the racing community meant the Supercars was the more straight forward series to get the ball rolling again. We will be reassessing in 2020 the options for the mainline series.
We've briefly touched on Rocket League. It will be returning in some form but just not sure how at this time.
Social games will become much more of a focus too, with a key interest being easy drop-in-drop-out games on both PC and Xbox. Minecraft is an obvious choice as we can have a server running all the time. And yes, GTA or Red Dead may also be on that list (though I personally don't have RDR2 on my list of games I'm looking at). Though the social aspect and nature of it means that these are things that can be organised at any time and not necessarily by us, it could be anyone in the community organising these events on any game!
So get involved in the discussion and help us gear up for a powerful 2019!

2019 Changes to CANZ Regulations |

Hey all,
The following changes are being made to the regulations in preparation for 2019. Please familiarise yourselves with the changes to avoid any confusion.
Section 1.2 Eligible Competitors
Racing is open to any driver regardless of skill level. Appropriate competitions for all skill levels are available. While eligibility is open to all drivers, application fees (in the form of Screwed Gamers Points) may apply.
Section 2.1 Team Entitlement Contracts (TEC's)
CANZ employs a system of TEC’s. TEC’s represent the ability for independent or privateer teams to form recognised teams for the CANZ championship season and compete for the teams championship. Any new member of the CANZ Racing Community will enter as a privateer unless joining a team with an existing TEC. Please view the following link for a list of teams with current TEC's.
C) Only one TEC is required for a team to compete in championships on any game as long as the team name remains the same. Any change to a TEC registered team name in-season will result in a loss of all points for that team.
...
E) TEC's must be unique and cannot be based on realistic team names (i.e. Red Bull Racing, Triple 8, Force India, etc) this includes derivative teams inspired by these real life teams. Real life branding is permitted in liveries but team names must be unique.
3.1 Competitor Responsibilities:
It is the responsibility of the competitor to ensure full compliance with the regulations of a series, check the series specific regulations in the appropriate thread(s) to ensure these regulations are met. check the series specific regulations on the Screwed Gamers website to ensure these regulations are met.
4.3 Grid Positions:
Each grid position shall be decided on lap times set in qualifying session(s), with the fastest driver being placed on pole position and the remainder in order of qualifying times unless race-specific ruling (such as reverse grid) override this rule. If two or more drivers record equal lap times the first driver to record the time shall take precedence unless handled otherwise by game software. Grid position penalities may also be applied from previous rounds which may affect starting positions from any qualifying session(s).
Section 5.3 Points System:
1. 230
2. 200
3. 180
4. 160
5. 140
6. 120
7. 100
8. 90
9. 80
10. 70
11. 60
12. 50
13. 40
14. 30
15. 20
16. 10
17. 5 for every position further
6.4 Penalty Types:
Penalties are handed out in the following categories:
A) Points penalty from the drivers’ championship points
B) Points penalty from the drivers’ SGP bank (aka a fine)
B) Grid position penalty (where possible)
C) Exclusion from qualifying at the next event
D) Exclusion from the following round.
Exclusions will only be handed out in the most extreme of cases or in the event of repeat offenders.

Another year, another thousand or so games coming out.....which ones are on your wish list?
For me I have two on the radar and that's about it:
Sea of Thieves
State of Decay 2
The latter is locked in, especially with co-op game play - hoping to organise a crew that will join me and stream gameplay regularly, provided I can spare the time....haha
Sea of Thieves is subject to reviews etc upon release.
Wait and see what others post which may pique my interest.

It's that time of year again where the Clipsal 500 is around the corner and now entering the livery unveiling season of the 2017 season.
First story of the new season is that HRT RBRA have picked up Matt Campbell to co-drive with SVG for the Pirtek Enduro cup. I think this has surprised everyone considering how well he drove for Nissan last season and was tipped to be a furure star at Nissan Motorsport.
First of the livery unveiling will be this week with HRT RBRA up first.

Hey everyone!
Welcome back to TSG in 2017, we hope you all had a safe and happy new year and are now ready to dive back into proceedings!
We're starting 2017 off with an unofficial 2v2 tournament open to Xbox One and PC players. The aim here is to test the waters in cross-play environments surrounding communications when organising events through the use of our Discord server. This competition will also seek to test the viability of running a 2v2 competition over maintaining our previous 3v3 format. There a couple of changes I will outline below but it should be noted the change will only occur should we find the overall competition runs smoother as a 2v2 than it did in its 3v3 format.
For this tournament we won't be running a salary cap as it is not an official tournament but will be making an effort to organise balanced teams internally based off the registrations. Competition length will be determined by the number of registrations and the number of teams we're able to assemble from those registrations. Where possible we'll do our best to ensure players are grouped with players on the same platform though we must emphasise this may not be 100% possible.
The main details:
Format: 2v2 Round Robin with elimination finals
Number of teams: To be determined
Matchplay format: 2-weeks-on-1-week-off, week break before finals
Number of players per team: 2
Substitutes: None (the two players assigned to the team must play or postpone their game to the next off week or the finals break)
Players interested in "Captaincy" (basically picking your own team name) should indicate as such in their registration, captains will be added as needed on a first-come-first-served basis.
Registrations:

Forza Motorsport 7 Thread |

Thread to start discussions on FM7, starting with this news that the Fanatec CEO is meeting with Turn 10 to discuss wheel support and improvements:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forza-motorspor...heel-users
"The news of a seventh entry in the Forza Motorsport franchise — expected to release within the next year — is unlikely to come as a surprise to anyone. What is surprising is the first mention of the team’s next project doesn’t come from Turn 10 itself, but has been outed by Fanatec CEO Thomas Jackermeier.
Thomas revealed on the Fanatec forum that he was due for a meeting with Turn 10 to discuss a number of things that could be done for the next title in the series. “If you would like to add something, please let me know,” Jackermeier posted, “Please tell me any wheel/pedal/shifter related issues you have in FM6 and let us know what new features you would like to see supported in FM7.”"
I don't suppose it's really a surprise it's coming, though I did think they may have taken the chance to add a third series to the franchise before the news of Scorpio came out. No doubt MSFT want FM7 to be a launch title for the Scorpio. Likely alongside Halo 6 which will likely also be revealed as a launch title for the Scorpio.

Thought I would attempt a discussion here on what controller layouts everyone uses.
I think we had some discussion about this while playing the game a while back, talking about positioning of the aerial roll button (default being x).
I am using default layout but have moved the aerial roll button to the left trigger so that I can boost and barrel roll at the same time. So far so good
