  YouTube content for TSG
Posted by: z00lu - 09-09-2016, 12:38 AM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (8)

So attempting to bring discussions from the FB chat over to the forum regarding race replays and other YouTube content to help build the community, here is my take on a few things:

Here is a breakdown of time taken to creat the race replays I produced for RGL:

Footage capture: 30-50min per race
Initial editing: 2-3hrs per race
Graphic content: 1hr per race
Pre-commentary editing: 1hr per race
Commentary: 30min per race (not allowing for any stuff ups where you have to redo it)
Final edit: 30-40min per race
Render: up to 1.5hrs per race (this would vary depending on PC specs)

Then upload to YouTube .......BUT;

In order to have championship standings etc accurate on the video, all stewarding needed to be complete and all database entry upto date. This also meant allowing time to settle any disputes with stewards findings.

At the height of it all, I was doing two races per round with approx 2-3 week gaps, so you add all that up, then try and fit that into your weekly routine.

Going forward, the option of doing it all live via spectator mode will only work with Project Cars unless Turn10 fix the Hud in Forza. Obviously doing it this way and reducing the graphic content to bare minimum will enable replays to be created much faster. This also applies to Rocket League.

Next year if there is any chance for me to do some videos of project cars I will.

OTHER CONTENT:

With the DVR system on the Xbox, we now have the opportunity to easily share moments in games that we could compile for top ten plays and/or fails for various games we play. An example would be someone scoring an awesome goal in rocket league, then getting the Xbox to record it. As soon as possible after that, you can share the video with whoever is compiling them to make a full video of such moments.

But again this needs someone to champion it and make it happen. Obviously it needs to be someone with a capture card. It would mean picture quality is slightly reduced but it's better than nothing.

I could very well do most of these things listed above, but I have dedicated a lot of my time over the past 8 years towards such things, and I have other things I want to do, including game more (something you can't fit in if all you are doing is creating YouTube content like this)

Happy to hear suggestions on different ways forward

PS4Pro Announced, Lacks UHD Blu-Ray Player
Posted by: Scav3nger - 09-08-2016, 03:19 AM - Forum: Off Topic - No Replies

According to some, the news that the PS4 Pro will not include an Ultra HD Blu-Ray player is a bit of a misstep. However it may not be as bad as it sounds, but for a $399 USD price point those that want a UHD Blu-Ray player in a console now look to the Xbox One S instead.

Considering, however, that the digital age is approaching at a rapid pace (not that our country's internet infrastructure is keeping up with it) the move not to include a UHD BluRay drive somewhat echo's Microsoft's initial plan to have the Xbox One be always online and push for digital games over physical media.

One thing is for sure, it will be interesting to see how the numbers for the One S, with Scorpio on the horizon, and PS4 Pro, after this announcement, play out. I can see a few people being disappointed with this decision but ultimately I feel the decision wouldn't have been made without a hint that UHD Blu-Ray's aren't being taken up as quickly as content producers would have liked.

Formula 1 sold to Liberty Media
Posted by: Scav3nger - 09-08-2016, 12:41 AM - Forum: General Motorsport - No Replies

http://ir.libertymedia.com/releasedetail...eID=988264

Currently the deal includes an 18% minority stake with an aim to reach 100% at the deals finalisation. Bernie will remain as ceo during a change over period, rumour being three years.

Will be interesting to see where this takes F1 in the future given Liberty Media Group is American and has a strong digital media background

Posted by: Scav3nger - 09-05-2016, 03:24 PM - Forum: Rocket League - Replies (6)

TSG's Bring Your Own Team II (Xbox One and PC)

With the first season of the Soccar Championships coming to a close, it's time for another BYOT. For this tournament players and captains will be free to assemble their own teams in a one night knockout contest (this time with more knockout)!

The competition will take shape in a double elimination bracket of 3v3 games, which will be organised based on the number of teams entered. This competition will be open to Xbox AND PC players so spread the word!

All games will use default mutators (including 5 minute game time to keep things rapid-fire). Remember that cross platform play must be turned on while playing in private lobbies with the other platform!

Signups for teams and players can be made here, anyone looking for a team, or looking for players, can also do so here.

Final date for the competition is TBA, but we're aiming for Tuesday September 27th.

  Interest in F1 2016 series
Posted by: CrashCaderz - 08-27-2016, 01:45 AM - Forum: CANZ Series Discussion - Replies (18)

With this years F1 game being an improvement to previous titles (surprisingly from codemasters) I'm just wanting to get interest into how many of you would like to have a F1 2016 series next year in CANZ. We haven't had an F1 series before and i think it'll work well with Drivers Championship, but also Constructors Championship with 2 car teams. I'm just looking for interest, so formats or information haven't been decided on yet. Comment if your interested, i think it will be a good series if we can get it going.

  2017 pCARS Test Night - Oct 27th
Posted by: Scav3nger - 08-26-2016, 11:45 AM - Forum: Social Nights and One-off Events - Replies (9)

Pretty straight forward this one, simply put we're testing GT3's, the Ford V8, and a couple other ideas for series we might be able to run.

We won't be using Formula B's, we know what they're like already.

  2017 Series Test Night - November 3rd
Posted by: Scav3nger - 08-24-2016, 03:49 AM - Forum: Social Nights and One-off Events - Replies (21)

On November 3rd we'll be holding a series test night for 2017 and the final two rounds of the Muscle Car Masters. We may also do some social racing if we cover everything quickly enough.

On the night we will be testing the following for viability and racing quality:
GT3/GTE, understandably some vehicles on this list would probably require balancing, the idea is to determine how much work would be involved.
Formula Ford, likely a support series
Classic F1 using the 1976 vehicles
TCC using any vehicle from the STCC, WTCC, or BTCC
RS200's, an old classic
Modern Hatchback, using any C class hatchback
Bring Your Own (A Class) Series
Mini Cooper Classic
MX-5 Cup
CotF 2.0 (would require a bit of work bringing some cars up to spec and getting them balanced, but I think we'd manage it if we worked together)

I've personally made the decision to remove modern Formula 1 and IndyCar's from the list as these vehicles are easily damaged and not very fun to drive when damaged.

We won't be using V8's on the night because we already know the kind of racing we get out of those, this is purely to see if we can find anything that can out-do them (plus looking at a few support ideas too).

  2017 Changes To The Website
Posted by: Scav3nger - 08-21-2016, 10:06 AM - Forum: Administration News - Replies (15)

Hello Everyone.

Just want to drop this here to keep everyone up to date on the latest progress with the website side of things.

In 2017 there'll be a couple of changes rolling out. Firstly, and heavily involving, CANZ. The current subsite was to serve a purpose I feel was not adequately being used for that purpose, increasingly people continue to ask, either directly or indirectly, when an event is taking place and at what time despite that information being available and, in the case of start times, fairly consistent. So canz.screwedgamers.com in it's current format will be closed down at years end, with all news and articles to do with CANZ to now be featured on the main website along with Soccar/Rocket League and general community posts. We'll work in a better structure for all the content on the homepage while we're at it because it's been a bit of a mess this year.

canz.screwedgamers.com will then relaunch as the CANZstats section of the website. When the system is ready.

Also when the system is ready, soccar.screwedgamers.com will also launch, and will be the home of all the Soccar Championship information and stats aside from news which will continue to appear on the homepage.

These changes are all somewhat dependant on the Stats parts of the site being set up, but consolodating all the news onto the one site at the start of 2017 is a part of the plan we can execute in the meantime. As always anyone that is interested in contributing to content (even if it's just taking a few screenshots for news articles) is more than welcome to get in touch with myself or z00lu.

[SCS] Stewards Briefing - Round 8
Posted by: Scav3nger - 08-17-2016, 12:59 AM - Forum: CANZ Stewarding Centre - No Replies

Round 8, Circuit Zolder, Stewards Briefing
August 18th, 2016

Teams and drivers are advised of the following information contained within:
Qualifying Procedure
Starting Procedure

Pit Entry and Exit

All information contained in this stewards briefing is created with the purpose of ensuring we have stable events, so CANZ administrators appreciate that everyone follows this information along with adhering to the CANZ sporting regulations.

Qualifying Procedure:
For round 8 we will be running a one-lap shootout qualifying in reverse championship order. We will start with the GT3's and then the LMP2's. As per our last shootout the following should be observed:
The car that is on track will complete one out-lap, one flying lap, and one in-lap.
The car that is next due on track will commence their out-lap after the current car commences their flying lap
Anyone on their in-lap caught by a car on their flying lap must clear the racing line, any incidents of blocking will result in a penalty.

Always keep note of who has qualified ahead of you in your class so you know who to start behind at the start of the race. It is your responsibility to keep note of this otherwise you may need to start from the back of the field.

Starting Procedure:
The first lap of the race will be consumed for the rolling start to allow runners to get into their positions in LMP/GT groups (having previously noted who they are to start behind), the LMP field will lead the group at a safe speed around the installation lap and will form into 2x2 out of the last corner for the race start and reduce speed to 60kph to group the field up.

The pole position driver will control the field, the circuit will be considered green out of the last corner of the circuit and the pole position driver may chose to start the race at any point between the exit of the last corner and the start/finish line, at this point the race will start regardless of if the pole position driver has accellerated or not.

Pit Entry and Exit:
As always pit entry and exit must be communicated with surrounding drivers to ensure no incidents arise as a result of a vehicle heading into or out of the pit lane.

Thanks guys, have a good race!
