  CoD Infinite Warfare
Posted by: Scav3nger - 10-30-2016, 12:42 AM - Forum: FPS and Shooters - Replies (5)

Interesting discussion coming out of NeoGaf for Infinite Warfare, apparently there's going to be pay-to-win elements to gun crafting.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1303027

Quote:To craft the best (Epic) version of a gun, you need 5840 salvage (200, then 540, then 1600, then 3500). Assuming you get 10 salvage every game (and that's probably not happening), you need to play 584 games. A COD match takes anywhere between 7-15 minutes to complete - assuming 10 minutes per game, that's 97 hours to complete one gun.

Because that takes some dedication, there is an alternative! You can give Activision a thousand dollars and hope that the Supply Drop RNG loot boxes give you the goods! Supply drops were already horrible in Black Ops 3, because all new guns were put into them, but now they are giving you better versions of guns that are already there. This game also has map pack DLC, so they are getting greedier than ever.

So combine the regular entry price for the game, or the price for the pack if you want CoD4 Remastered, plus the DLC/Season Pass, and the Supply Drops microtransactions, mash it all together and you get a very messy game that says to me that if I wanted to get a first person shooter this year I'd not buy CoD:IW.

  Season awards
Posted by: z00lu - 10-27-2016, 01:13 PM - Forum: Rocket League - Replies (4)

Had a thought that we could come up with some awards that are earned at the end of each Soccar Championship season for various achievements.

Example:

The Scott Sterling Award - given to the player with the most saves at the end of the Home and Away season.

Other awards could be for:
most goals scored
best and fairest for the player with the most MVP's won and highest player value.
Striker award - most shots on goal

etc etc - essentially an award for each of the stats tracked.

The main thing is to come up with names for each award, such as the example I gave above.

If you can think of any post below!

TSG's Soccar Championships - Season II
Posted by: Scav3nger - 10-22-2016, 02:07 AM - Forum: Rocket League - Replies (40)

Welcome to Season II everybody! Season I ended up a bit one-sided and the Knights of Utopia showed the competition what could be done when a team gels and works together well. But this season it all changes with the salary restrictions meaning we'll see new teams form.

What's new in Season II?
The draft system (which will be explained below) is the biggest change to Season II, after the less than successful "trade period" last season we've mixed things up a bit. In the coming days the captains will come together and hold a one-night draft to organise their teams. Salary caps have also been increased to $1.2 million for Season II.

Salary for all players will be as they finished in Season I with the exception of the following players:
xXFuriousWolfXx
NuclearMajor69

In order for these players to find homes at any teams during our trial drafts over the last week we've had to cap their salary to $650,000 AND increase team salary caps to $1.2 million (so stop playing so damn well!) in order for them to be picked up and still allow other teams to fill their rosters without going over the cap. Had we not made these changes the above players would not have found a team able to fit them into their roster (unless they wanted to play as a team of two).

Season II Franchises:
At this point in time we're going into Season II assuming that all captains will keep the Season I franchises active, those being:
The Spartans
Wasteland Devils
Midnight Raiders
Second Degree Sharks
Mannfield Marauders
Knights of Utopia

Team Information:
Maximum players: 3
Salary Cap: $1.2 Million
New Player value: $150,000 (for this season this only applies to joshman808)

Match information:
Matches are to be played on home grounds as per fixtures when released.

Mutators:

Match Length: 10min
Max Score: Unlimited
Boost Strength: 1x
Respawn Time: 3 seconds

All other settings must be set to DEFAULT.

Reschedule information:
Should a team need to reschedule a game due to two or more players being unavailable (including the substitute), it will be up to the captains of both teams to organise a night to reschedule the match provided it is rescheduled before the next round is due to take place. If a reschedule is not able to organised by this point the team that was unable to field their team at the initial game will be given a forfeit.

Should a game-wide issue cause games to be un-playable, the entire round may be rescheduled.

Captains:
Midnight Raiders: MRN3Drifter
Knights of Utopia: NuclearNinja23
Wasteland Devils: Brute x Magicz
Second Degree Sharks: Scav3nger
Mannfield Marauders: z00lu
The Spartans: Alsimo

The Draft:
The draft system will operate on a rotation selection starting from the last placed team from Season I. Selections will proceed with first picks up the ladder to the Knights, and will then return to bottom of the ladder for the second round of picks. On the draft night (currently aiming for Tuesday Oct 25th) captains will assemble into a party and will be provided a link to a live spreadsheet of the draft. This spreadsheet will have salaries of all players and will perform calculations for you on the fly so you know how much salary you have to work with as the draft progresses.

Once the teams are selected we can schedule everything and get Season II underway!

As always if you have any questions, drop them below.

  Soccar - Rolling game nights
Posted by: z00lu - 10-17-2016, 02:59 AM - Forum: Rocket League - Replies (10)

As part of our mission to attract more players to our Soccar Championships, ideally between and sometimes during a season, where we have some free nights (doesn't have to be a Tuesday or Thursday necessarily) it would be good to setup an appropriate number of private matches where players can drop in and out for some freindly social matches in Standard.

Eg. If we have 12 people online keen to play some rocket league then we have two lobbies of six. Teams can be selected randomly within the lobbies and after perhaps a best of 5, two or three players can swap to the second lobby so there is good opportunity to play with and against more people.

In the instance there might be say 10 people wanting to play, setu a lobby for 3v3 and the other as 2v2. The main thing is to increase the social interaction with each other so that players can be more comfortabe with the prospect of teaming up with different players in the league under a draft selection system.

That all said, this thread is here to nominate nights as they become available for such game nights.

To start with lets see how many people are keen for tomorrow night:

18th Oct from approx 8.30pm AEDT

  1. z00lu
  2. Scav3nger
  3. MRN3Drifter
  4. Alsimo
  5. Chaos
  6. Brute x Magicz
  7. Hunter
  8. Joshman
  9. Woebe
  10. The Doc
  11. Furiouswolf (2 matches)
  12. Workingdata
  13. Deadx
  14. UnusedDragon

Game night 2: TBA

  2017 Bathurst 12 Hour
Posted by: Scav3nger - 10-13-2016, 04:07 AM - Forum: General Motorsport - Replies (2)

News on this front is getting a bit of traction as the date for closing entries draws near. A couple of weeks ago Maranello Motorsport announced that Lowndes and Whincup would be steering a Ferrari together, and today BMW have announced Mark Skaife and Russell Ingall are teaming with Tony Longhurst to take on the 12 hour GT3 event.

This field is looking incredibly competitive, with a fair share of local and international talent. Should be a good race.

  A Discussion About DLC
Posted by: Scav3nger - 10-07-2016, 01:51 PM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (1)

Everyone's favourite subject!

I'm curious to know what your standpoint is on DLC and the modern expansions for games? Do you like the Season Pass approach? Do you like the microtransactions to cover giving stuff away for free? Did you prefer the good old days when expansion packs came out with a plethora of new content on a disc? Is there another system you think would work better?

Personally I don't mind the microtransactions as long as two criteria are met:
1) They're not in your face about buying shit all the time
2) They don't unbalance the game by locking better content behind the payment (and not provide another method with which to acquire the better content, i.e. actually playing the game)

I think Rocket League is doing it well with the crates and free maps, though it would be nice if they had some kind of trading system so I could trade crates for items I actually want from people who have unlocked stuff they don't want (that I might want) but want another crate to try their luck again. I personally feel the Rocket League approach works better than, say, the Halo 5 approach because in Halo 5 all the items are in a single massive pool of potential items. Every time you unlock a REQ pack you're rolling a random chance on (in a gold pack) 8-10 items from a pool of hundreds, and even then you're only guaranteed one or two "premium" items (the one-time unlock stuff vsersus warzone guns). In Rocket League you have about 16 items to roll a random chance on in each crate, but only get one item, so you might say the odds are similar but I find the Rocket League system better with smaller groups of items.

I dislike Season Passes, you never really know what's going to be in them so you're paying for content you might not like in advance, I think the last season pass I bought was for Forza 4.
